This Mk1 Morgan Aero 8 was the world's first all aluminium coach-built car.
An open two seater with breath taking performance the Aero 8 holds true to the Morgan tradition of 'no compromise' coach built construction yet brings the world's oldest family owned car manufacturer to the very leading edge of automotive design and construction technology.
The Aero 8's lightweight aluminium chassis was based on the works team GT2 racecar, and was fully developed into a strong, lightweight chassis that gives excellent torsional rigidity and exceptional handling characteristics. Retaining elements of Morgan's traditional styling, the Aero 8's high-grade aluminium body was freshly sculpted with bold and purposeful looks and highly developed aerodynamics. The development of the Aero 8 powerplant and drivetrain gave rise to a partnership with one of the world's premier engine and vehicle manufacturers, BMW. Under the provocative curves of the Aero 8 lies BMW’s iconic 4.4-litre V8 engine mated to a six-speed Getrag gearbox.
Exhilarating performance was the result of a torque to weight ratio that rivaled any other production sportscar at the time. Extensive testing, using some of Europe's most advanced vehicle research and development facilities, fine tuned the Aero 8's positive handling and smooth ride.
Working with suppliers from the world of Formula One racing, Morgan insisted on the use of high quality, lightweight materials and components throughout the entire car. As a result, the Aero 8 gave leading edge technology in many of its unique features.
Above all, the Aero 8 was hand-made to order, built by the skilled craftsman at Morgan's Malvern factory with the same attention to each individual customer's personal tastes as ever. The Aero 8 was a two-seater sportscar combining innovation and heritage. It resulted in functional but dynamic and spirited to drive.
Over the winter and whist in the care of Krazy Horse this Aero 8 has under gone a tasteful cosmetic re work and full mechanical inspection including full service with spark plugs, air filter, brake fluid change, coolant change, new tyres, A/C service and re gas, front suspension over haul using new bespoke suspension components from the Morgan factory. New tyres, LED taillights. Cosmetically the car has been fully detailed inside and outside, new front headlights, piano black interior trim, cleaned and newly undersealed wheel arches, refurbished brake callipers, new Morgan badges, new Black Leather Mota -lita steering wheel to finish. The car now resembles a new car and genuinely has to be seen.
Being only a two owner car from new this car has obviously been cherished throughout its life. it benefits from having a full service history from the Morgan factory and Morgan main dealers. The car has all original equipment including the leather satchel which was made in collaboration with the famous premium brand Mulberry.
