This Bentley continental R was first registered on 23rd of March 1993, with the Registration NO. K354 JAR and chassis CH42616 by Jack Barclays, Berkeley Square, London. The Coachwork is by Mulliner Park Ward and finished in what most agree is the best colour to demonstrate the stunning lines of this titan of British engineering, Royal Blue metallic and Magnolia main hide with British Blue hide to upper dash and British Blue carpet finished of course with sheep skin over mats. We genuinely feel this is the best example of the iconic Bentley Continental R available. Undoubtedly there are cars with lower miles but with cars of this age, regular use and an unrivalled service history is paramount. This is where this car stands head and shoulders over its peers, with 3 service books fully stamped totalling and incredible 42 stamps from Jack Barclay, Bentley Essex and predominantly the unrivalled expertise of P&A woods of Dunmow. Arguably the preeminent Rolls Royce and Bentley dealer in the UK. With invoices approaching £170,000! Yes… I’ll type that twice as that’s not a typo £170,000 you can be sure this cars history is unmatched. This Bentley has just been serviced by P&A woods, where it also had 5 new Michelin tyres and new genuine Bentley Discs and Pads fitted to ensure the next owner is presented with the very best version of this genuinely exquisite Continental R. With just 2 former keepers earlier in her life she found a longstanding home with her current custodian who took delivery of this Bentley on the 24th of December 2001 (What a wonderful Christmas present that would have been!) latterly the car was Dry-stored indoors by P&A wood over the winter months which again cements the approach taken by the owner to its condition.

As an overview of what this car stood for in 1993 The Continental Mulliner R was built as a fond farewell to an icon, combining the increased power of the sportier Continental T with the prestige of the full long-wheelbase R. Externally, the car is truly stunning. The styling is defined by the exaggerated and sinuous lines stretching from front to rear dominating any road with its purposeful and iconic front grill that just scream quality strength and engineering, No plastic or “composite material” here just aircraft quality attention to detail and a budget free approach to the fit and finish even under the bonnet. Hand-built Bentleys of this era will in time be studied as the benchmark of luxury and quality. Powered by the iconic 6. 75-litre turbocharged V8, complete with the obligatory ‘Hand built in Crewe’ plaque, It produces 420 BHP which frankly isn’t what this is all about it’s the noise or the lack of it that that demonstrates the skill and engineering that’s been poured into this magnificent piece of automotive history.

This beautiful Grand Routier does represent exceptional value for money, when you take into account that in 1993 this model was in fact the most expensive production model money could buy having a purchase price of around£225,000 and a service record approaching£170,000the asking price of £49,995 seems ridiculous in comparison and we have to think examples with the pedigree this car offers can only increase in value over the coming years as the automotive industry moves ever closer to homogenised boxes with “best before” dates.
