A couple of weeks ago Krazy Horse Dealerships organised a IMRG Ride Out to the Indian/Victory day at the Ace Café. Paul Welsh from Krazy Horse London attended and used some of the riding gear we sell across all our dealerships, he was so impressed he has put together a blog all about it.
Ride gear “Can we ride safe and feel fashionable” by Paul Welch
Not sure if this is same for many who ride a motorcycle, but I have always had the dilemma of safety and fashion on a motorcycle.
Motorcycling has evolved, the whole ethos behind a premium Motorcycle purchase has now taken shape to involve “How do I feel, what does this bike say about me, can I ride in comfort and style”. Does this purchase suit my lifestyle??
Motorcycling for me, personally, and in what I am looking to promote through my retailer Krazy Horse London, is exactly that and I am not shy or concerned about how that sounds to anyone in the industry or riding a motorcycle. Because if we really think about it our decisions are always influenced by fashion in some way. Who do you emulate, who do you aspire to look like? The purchase and the decision to take my hobby, passion and my life in my own hands has had to be made with compromise until now .
The issues I faced, were rider gear. I could not find anything I was comfortable in and allowed my personality to shine through. 15 years riding with a little commute experience had me feeling uncomfortable or making poor choices in riding clothing.
Recently I have had my choices challenged as the environment we choose to ride in has become far more dangerous. I am very passionate about style and coming from the fashion industry I was lucky to have acquired my first fashion riding motorcycle jean around 2010, Maple Selvedge denim Kevlar jeans £350.00, had to bite the bullet as it was the only jean being produced for motorcycle riders with the style and fit at the heart of the concept, at that stage in motorcycling. Still have them now so money well spent although they jeans were still missing something. It was the innovators and the creators thinking this way and unfortunately not the riders. Therefore, Maple had to cease trading a few years later. But the seed had been sown.
Fast forward to now 2021. After countless attempts to find the holy grail, I feel I am the closest I will ever get. I am currently riding in SA1NT UNBREAKABLE single layer Dynema jeans and Ride John Doe flight jacket.
These two garments offer me everything I have been searching for above.
The SAINT UBREAKABLE jeans, once you try them and understand the technology, with Dyneema® (the same fibre that stops bullets, tethers space shuttles and armours helicopters) a single layer, lightweight Unbreakable jean has been created. These jeans are a one stop jean for everything. Riding to work, dealing with the day-to-day challenges of the industry even spending time at my desk to write this, never felt so comfortable and I am able to maintain the high level of style I have been after for so long. Armour Available if needed
Ride John Doe flight jacket. I have to explain why this garment seems to have hit the spot, I am, and I can’t hide it a chilly Mortal, I always have to layer. This proves very difficult in spring and summer. The technology behind this garment has blown me away, cool enough to prevent overheating with CE approved two-layer design, water resistant breathable Kevlar protected fabrics. Armour Available if needed
